What to Expect at Your First Prenatal or Postpartum Massage
What to Expect
First Visit
At Motherhood Massage, we specialize in gentle, therapeutic bodywork designed specifically for the needs of pregnant and postpartum moms. Whether you're coming in for your very first prenatal massage to ease tension and prepare for birth, or seeking postpartum support for healing and recovery, your comfort and safety are our top priorities. Here's what you can expect during your first visit—from how to prepare to how we personalize every session for your unique stage of motherhood.
1. Your Arrival
When you first arrive at Motherhood Massage, you will be welcomed by our smiling staff and directed to fill out our intake form (if you haven’t filled it out prior to arriving).
2. In the Lobby
We want you to have the most pampered and relaxing experience so we happily provide complimentary drinks (water, tea, coffee) to enjoy! Please enjoy them! Or even take some with you when you leave. We know how crazy life gets and a little moment to slow down can feel so refreshing.
3. To The Treatment Room
Next, your massage therapist will bring you back to your relaxing treatment room and discuss your concerns and goals for your massage. Take this time to be honest with your therapist. We are here to help you reach your goals.
4. Massage Preparation
Your therapist will then step out of the room so you can undress to your comfort level and lay down under the sheets of the massage bed. Every level of undress is absolutely normal. We have clients that prefer to leave clothes on, others that prefer to remove all clothes, and still others that find comfort somewhere in between. Whatever your comfort level is, we can accommodate to that.
5. Massage Experience
Your massage therapist will knock on the door prior to entering to ensure you are prepared for your massage. They will begin your massage. Please feel free to provide feedback throughout the course of your massage - you may feel too cold, or too warm, or want less or more pressure, or prefer a different position. We are here to help you feel the most comfortable and we hear feedback all day and are happy to accommodate.
6. After the Massage
Once your massage is over, your therapist will step out and allow you a moment to redress and meet you in the lobby with a glass of water.
